Very pretty golf course.
Very scenic.
Great course conditions.
The golfers thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A MUST-PLAY golf course in Cape Town.
The weather was a tad bit weird that day, so there were certain areas that had a fairly heavy gray overcast but yet others were bright and sunny. Quite interesting. If you look at the photos, there should be a couple that would show half clear sky and half overcast. Interesting, eh?
Oh.... and erm.... nice locker rooms too....
The One with The Toilet Emergency
So I started out bright and chirpy. The course looked stunning and I was all excited on the prospect of having a good day with my camera. Yay! And then, I felt a funny churn in my stomach.... never mind. Maybe only a temporary churn..... so off we went to the first hole.
I started to struggle a little in the buggy whilst the golfer teed off. No.... this can't be happening. Mental pep talk! Pep talk! "Stomach feels fine... fffinnneeeee....."
Not so finnneeee.... every time I twitched ever so slightly, my stomach teased me further. I could feel myself turning pale in the face and breaking out in cold sweat. The pain was excruciating! Nnnoooo..... I need the toilet! I need the toilet now! NOW!!!!!
But we had progressed on quite far by then. I think we were at Hole #2 or was it Hole #3? Can't remember.
I turned to someone (can't remember who) and told her I had a toilet emergency. There was no way I could walk back to the club house. Too far for someone who felt like she was going to die. So Jo-Jo got TWG to drive me back to the club house.
Hold... hold.... I can make it to the club house.
I felt like my face had turned from white to purple from the anticipation of getting to the toilet. The ride felt like forever!
Yay! We arrived!
Cross-leggedly, I wobbled into the ladies locker room. I had a desperate glance around and THANK GOD! No one! I grabbed the golf newsletter on the table, and dashed into the toilet cubicle.
The moment I sat down on that precious toilet bowl... the rest was history! Orgasm, I tell ya! If anyone had entered at any point, I am so sorry. I hope you didn't pass out.
I was stuck in there for a good 45 minutes battling with tummy rumbles. The only thing I could do between clutching on to the toilet paper roll holder and wanting to murder someone for the pain I was suffering, I read the newsletter.
Then I came across an article on this dude... familiar face... hmmm.... Clovelly Country Club.... Oh! I remember now! I bumped into him at the pro shop at Clovelly. No wonder he was giving me this weird sort of smug smile. He must be quite popular in the golfing world and presumed that I would recognise him! Too bad! Wrong person to give smug smile to. Apart from Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Vijay Singh, I don't know any one else in the golfing world. Oops!
Lost for things to do in the cubicle, I decided take a breather at the clubhouse instead. At least now I'm close to the toilet.... so in case of emergency AGAIN, I would have instant access.
I ordered myself a cup of coffee. Coffee! It was the coffee I had that morning that triggered this bad stomach! I did complain that the espresso in my cappucino had gone VERY bad (sour) but last thing I expected was this violent post-effect! Damn!
I ended up sitting there for a long time whilst vigilantly looking out for the golfers. I was bored. I finally spotted the golfers from a distant (which meant they were close to hole #9) and I was overjoyed!
OK... babysteps... testing testing... tummy churns? Just a little. I re-joined the golfers and tummy did me a favour and did not give me too much trouble. At least I managed to enjoy the course second half of the way.
So yeah.... Steenberg has nice locker rooms.
Hole #10 - Hole #18
