Proudly Presenting.... THE MOTHER CITY

Day 6 : 20 March 2005

Has anyone NOT been to Cape Town?
You MUST visit Cape Town at least ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME.
Orgasmic.
A sight to behold.
There ain't no city like Cape Town.
Proudly South African.

So we had to wake up at some ungodly hour of the morning to catch the 0710hrs flight to Cape Town. We had to leave the house by 0545 hrs (by now you should figure out that was not a problem at all. These fanatic golfers were punctual.... as usual) so this mean AA had to be awake by 0345 hrs to fulfil her toilet duties. Ha!

One thing really nice about the travellers, we had a fantabulous arrangement.... AA, ME and myself shared a room most of the way. AA, with her heck-hilarious toilet-worshipping habits, would be the first to wake up. Then she will wake ME up about 1/2 hour before the appointed leaving time, and I would be the last to be waken. YES. The piggy does need as much sleep as she needs. The piggy REALLY hates mornings. The piggy worships her bed. So yeah, it was a nice arrangement. No fuss.

Anyway, that was the first time I travelled by One-Time airline. It is a new budget domestic airline so I secretly hoped it was good. The holiday was good so far and I could not bear for any screw ups. Thank god it was a nice... AA and myself chatted through the flight whilst M.E. performed her notorious sleeping stunt. Jo and TWG slept at well.

I missed out one teeny-weeny detail.... TWG can bring any house down with his snores.

No flight delays. We arrived on-time at 0920 hrs at Cape Town. And there was the tour guide, Chew, there to meet us. Chew is a Malaysian-Chinese who used to have a furniture business, who used to be some diplomat in Malaysia. I can't remember if there is any more 'used-to-be' on his resume. But for 'now-he-is', Chew is definitely in the right trade now. He is a good tour guide. Thumbs up!

Chew reminded me of home. Typical middle-aged man who talks like he is worried that people living 10 blocks away can't hear him. How many times I had cringed because of his volume whilst the rest of them were napping in the can... how many times I wondered if there was a volume switch I could tune down.....

But apart from that sonic boom factor, he is a very amiable, efficient and professional guide. After some initial getting used to, I observed the acceptance amongst the travellers. Big relief... VERY big relief.

And that was that! Away to the first of Cape Town golf course!
