Durban Holiday Inn

I remembered why I always hated going to Durban. Chaos, hectic people with hell horrendous drivers! It was always a battle with the traffic and it didn't help that I was unfamiliar with the roads as well. I hate the humid weather too. I hate Durban. Period.

We arrived at the Durban Holiday Inn by Snell Parade. I tried to let the travellers off at the main entrance and asked the concierge for directions to the carpark.

“Sorry m’am. The carpark is full”

What you mean the carpark is full? It can’t be full. What kind of a stupid hotel doesn’t cater enough parking space for hotel residents. Damn it. Another battle coming up. And mind you, I was so frustrated from the day’s screw-ups that I was ready to fight a war. The concierge asked me to park by the road and I snapped rudely at him, “And are YOU going to pay for damages should anything happen to my car?”

And of course, the uselessness of SA’s service hits home. He shrugged me off casually and asked me to speak to the reception. Someone get me a damn AK47….

So I went in. And so it was another battle with the damn reception. They needed to ‘sort it out’. Then they wanted me to move my car from the entrance as a tour bus was coming….

“I am NOT moving my car till my parking space is sorted out!”

And that’s that. I stood there, refusing to move my car. And what do u know, they managed to find me a parking space! The concierge went with me to give me directions. I entered the car park and snapped to the concierge, “Are you kidding me? Why are you guys telling me there is no parking lot available? Look at all these parking lots free!”

He chuckled.

I parked my car.

I shook my head and sighed in resignation as I headed for the hotel room.
