And So.. my 2 tennis darlings are through to 2nd round!

Yes, yes.
I made a mistake with the Hamburg schedule.
It started yesterday instead of what I originally was today.
I still can't figure out how the DSTV guide works.
Quite sad.

It is back to eyes on TV, watching yellow balls flying across the orange courts.

And indeed, it is a grand way to start.
Roger Federer, who played yesterday, went through to the 2nd round in straight sets - 6-3 6-4.
Federer had a bad draw and played Verdasco in the 1st round.
Verdasco - the one who defeated Roddick in Rome.
Anyway, Fed was sluggish but did good.
Can't complain about an easy straight sets win!

Then there's my dearly beloved Safin.
He's a comic in a class of his own.
Clearly an exhibitionist (that's why I love this dude) as he attempted to catch the ball into his left pocket.
He defeated Alberto Martin (yeah, yeah... another Spaniard) in straight sets - 6-1 6-0.
One french fry and a bagel!
Way to go Safin!

But tomorrow's line-up is a bitch.
He's playing against Spaniard Ferrero.
Their current head-to-head record tie at even-steven 4-4, with Ferrero defeating Safin at their last match-up at 2005 Monte Carlo, 2nd round.

Good grief!
I hope Safin does not have some weird mental battle again...
He HAS to get past 2nd round this time!

What about Young Clammie Nadal?
He has decided to take time out from Hamburg after that gruelling 5 hours 14 minutes match against Coria (whiner Coria did amazing good today though, winning in straight sets - 6-0, 6-1).
Wise decision or he will be flat out by Roland Garros.
And for the love of all living sights, get that hideous finger blister healed!
It certainly was not a nice sight when the camera zoomed in on that wound.

So here's another week burnt watching tennis.

Thank goodness there's a week interval between Hamburg and Roland Garros, or my job will really be in jeopardy.

The court condition at Hamburg seems slow so perhaps I'll lose less lives this time.
But then again, BOTH Federer and Safin are in the match...
And I didn't have time to go renew those lifelines.
Oh damn!
