I was flipping my organiser when these boarding passes and train tickets started falling out so I thought it would be quite nice to include these on my blog as well (I had to doctor some information for security/privacy reasons). After all, this blog will serve as a reminder to my disintegrating memory-cells. And then I remembered I miss out on a couple of useless details -
I got terribly trashed in pool (after not playing for months) during my Kaiping stay. How embarrassing! Never been trashed so badly in ages! OK Dudes! Time for us to practise again.... That is if... erm.... we are actually in the same country. Never mind.
I didn't speak English for 2 whole weeks. I was stuck speaking mandarin and listening to a whole lot of Cantonese. I have never in my life spent a prolonged period of time speaking ONLY mandarin. I called back to a friend in Singapore and told him, "Just listen to me talk. I need to talk in English NOW". Yada yada yada.
FACT : I picked up mandarin in South Africa, compliments of the Taiwanese I work with. I was an infamous Chinese-flunker in school days. The girl who sat next to me used to write (perpetually) my essays for me. I would write like a 1/4 of my essay, leave the rest blank with pin-yin, through my paper to her and she would 'fill-in-the-blanks' for me. And now, I have become scarily fluent in spoken-mandarin AND I am actually starting to MSN in mandarin as well. Shoot me somebody please!
FACT : If anyone ever takes a train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong (and vice-versa), please ensure to be at the boarding gate at least 15-20 mins prior to departure time. The gates are closed (at Guangzhou) 10 minutes before departure time. We arrived at the gate 5 minutes before departure and were refused entry. The customs officer sat there with a vicious grin and refused to move his fat. So we had to change the ticket at an additional 50% charge and waited for another 2 hours for the next train.
Hong Kong's Marco Polo Hotels' internet connection speed (ADSL) is fantastic.
Kaiping's Ever Joint Hotel's internet connection speed is slow. Broadband? Narrowband more likely. I think 56k dial-up modem service may just be faster.
Cathay Pacific is a great airline to take - good ground and air service even on Economy Class.
Memories of Travels
Price of Stupidity
Reminds me of scrapbooks during childhood days.
I lie.
Too lazy.
Its not always I have things lying around I can use - especially since the demise of my previous gigolo named Fijitsu, ID number : E7010. I am guilty of 1st degree murder. Charge : Drowning him with coffee. I miss him dearly as he was with me through thick-and-thin of my earlier travels and stored many of my records that is now buried with him.
Oh well, life goes on. Hewlett is treating me well. His specifications are better and he sounds good too. How much more can a techno junkie ask for?
Alot more actually.... but it will make do for now.
