Afternoon.
TC: "Yes I'm home. Yes. Can meet up for coffee."
Me: "Yay! I go pick you up?"
TC: "I'm at a different place now.... I'm at my parent's place."
Me: "Where's that??"
TC: "xxxxxx"
Me: "Aiya! I thought where.... still so nearby! I can swing by to pick you up la! Which block?"
TC: "54"
Pause.
Gawk.
Laugh out loud.... awkwardly.
Me: "That's where my ex-boyfriend lives."
Unreal.
Oddly enough, though he mentioned 'his parents place' a couple of times, it never struck me to ask "where". For some reason, I always assumed it was some place like Woodlands or something... certainly never thought it to be where Mr T lives.
Shocked?
Definitely.
And after some probing from him, as it turns out, Mr TC does know Mr T's family and the 2 misters were childhood neighbours.... AND... he and Mr T were primary school mates too!
Coincidence?
Maybe.
So who is Mr TC?
He was my 'buddy' in the advanced course who went through some pretty intense 5 days together. I saw a lot of Mr T in Mr TC. I learnt about Mr T through Mr TC. I saw Mr TC's dedication towards his wife and through that, I saw a glimmer of hope.
Coincidence?
Maybe.
Then Mr TC and I enrolled for LP together. We ended up in different groups and I got myself a new 'buddy'. Mr TC dropped out of LP halfway. Mr T and I broke up a few weeks later.
Coincidence?
Still maybe.
And today, some 4 months later, I went to pick up Mr TC at the exact spot I used to pick Mr T up. In my dreamy mind, I was seeing that familiar face with that familiar smile walking towards me. And as life would have it, the radio started blasting "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You". I felt the emotions rising and wondered if that was God's sense of humour again. I had barely switched from FM 90.5 to some CHINESE radio station and I'm hearing sappy ENGLISH song?
Coincidence?
I'm really not sure anymore!
If this is supposed to mean something, then I wish I knew what it is. Damn it!
Anyway, just for laughs, check out the music video of the song! Oh my god! 80's at its best!!! The cheesy MTV setting, the outfits, the hair... woah! Classic! Doesn't this make you just wanna take out your mic and dash for the karaoke machine?
